Heurigen culture and regional specialities

Where pleasure meets nature

The wine town of Bad Vöslau is particularly well-known for the famous red grape variety Blaufränkisch. There is a wine trail that leads through the picturesque vineyards, past countless wine taverns and wineries that invite you to sample regional wine specialities. Along the way, you pass numerous viewpoints that reveal the breathtaking beauty of the landscape. Typical of the region's wine tavern culture are the atmospheric gardens, the rustic cellar vaults and the tasty snacks, spreads and pastries.

The thermal spa cycle path - 34 kilometres along the Wiener Neustadt Canal - and a mountain bike route around the Harzberg also offer ideal opportunities for active leisure activities.

In Bad Vöslau, culinary delights can be combined with health and well-being, while nature shows its most beautiful side in the warmer and colder seasons. The marvellous sunsets in the area are unique. You should not miss them.

Bad Vöslau Castle

Classicist elegance & architectural jewel

A castle that makes history

Once the residence of an influential aristocratic family, today a landmark full of history: Vöslau Castle tells of great visions, artistic architecture and the exciting past of an up-and-coming town.

The rise of Vöslau began with the arrival of the influential Fries family. Johann von Fries (1719-1785), a pioneer of Austrian high finance, played a key role in international trade - including with the famous Maria Theresa Thaler.

The signature of the famous sculptor Franz Zauner can still be seen today in the ornate putti that adorn the palace portal and staircase. The result? An extraordinary ensemble of early classicist art that is unrivalled in Austria.

Since 1973, the castle has not only been an architectural highlight, but also a lively meeting place: it is home to the town hall, a citizens' service centre and the tourist information office - a place where history meets modern life.
